Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received  the new United Arab Emirates Consul-General to the Kurdistan Region Ahmed Aldhaheri, and his accompanying delegation.

Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Consul-General Aldhaheri and wished him success in his new position. He expressed the support of the Kurdistan Regional Government and its institutions to UAE activities in the Kurdistan Region.

Prime Minister Barzani gave a brief overview of the war against ISIS, providing shelter and assistance to an extraordinary number of displaced people who fled violence, relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, and the current process of the formation of the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

He expressed his government’s desire to further develop relations with the United Arab Emirates, highlighting opportunities for foreign investment. He also expressed his government’s appreciation to the UAE for providing humanitarian assistance to the Region’s displaced people.

Consul-General Aldhaheri conveyed the greetings of his country's leadership to Prime Minister Barzani. He highlighted UAE activities in the Kurdistan Region and the further strengthening of bilateral relations. He commended KRG support to UAE humanitarian assistance for the displaced people in the Region.

The culture of coexistence among ethnic and religious communities and its importance were mutually acknowledged.
